What to ask when you call

  • Who does the washing (ghusl), and are there women for a woman who has died?
  • Where and when will the janazah prayer be, and which cemetery do you use?
  • What will it cost, and is there help for a family that cannot pay?

Details change. Call to confirm before you rely on this listing. A listing is not an endorsement, and it is never affected by payment or by using any service from us or anyone we work with.

Our step-by-step guide is written for the United States. The Islamic steps are the same everywhere; the paperwork in New Zealand is different — ask the funeral committee or funeral home.
