What to ask when you call

  • Is there a plot available now, and what does it cost in total (plot, opening the grave, marker)?
  • Can the burial be in a shroud, or is a casket or liner required?
  • Which funeral home or committee usually works with you, and how fast can a burial happen?

Details change. Call to confirm before you rely on this listing. A listing is not an endorsement, and it is never affected by payment or by using any service from us or anyone we work with.

Someone just died?

  1. Call the masjid’s funeral committee first. If the death was at home and unexpected, call 112 before anyone else.
  2. Ask them: who does the ghusl, what time the janazah prayer will be, which funeral director they work with, and whether there is a plot in a Muslim cemetery or section.
  3. Then take it one step at a time. What to do when a Muslim dies in Belgium.
