Someone just died?

  1. Call the masjid’s funeral committee first. If the death was at home and unexpected, call 112 or 999 before anyone else.
  2. Ask them: who does the ghusl, what time the janazah prayer will be, which funeral director they work with, and whether there is a plot in a Muslim cemetery or section.
  3. Then take it one step at a time. Our step-by-step guide is written for the United States. The Islamic steps are the same everywhere; the paperwork in Ireland is different — ask the funeral committee or funeral home. What to do when a Muslim dies · When someone dies abroad.
